Supervisors on Safety

Everyone is accountable for creating and sustaining a safe work environment. Supervisors must promote good safety practices by providing employees with feedback, supporting those who stop work when risk increases and rewarding individuals who take the time and effort to ensure the work is performed safely. Broken into digestible moments, this four-hour virtual session highlights the role of a supervisor in ensuring safe environments through engaging discussion and interactive learning. Participants will receive pragmatic ideas and tips to better enable ongoing and value-added communication, direction and evaluation of their team’s safety philosophy and practices.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the role of a supervisor in safety and risk management
  • Understand and apply the philosophy “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”
  • Identify behavior and practices that demonstrate his/her commitment to a positive safety culture
  • Improve his/her capacity to identify hazards and risk within his/her organization

This class is conducted live online via video conference with effective, takeaway segments designed for engaging, interactive learning. 


About the Instructor

Marshall Watson

Marshall Watson is the Professional Development Manager for The STRIVE Group. As a twenty-three year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a former adjunct instructor with UAA’s Mat-Su College, Marshall adds training and development, instructional technology and coaching expertise to The STRIVE Group’s team. He is skilled in assessing an organization’s training needs, developing content to meet those needs, and delivering it through on-demand, in-person and distance learning methods.
